During the First World War, the D'Ieteren car shops were closed and some buildings were requisitioned by the German government. But as soon as the war was declared, several members of the D'Ieteren family volunteered. For four years, they each put their skills at the service of the Army or the Government. This little-known episode in the history of the D'Ieterens is depicted in ten illustrated panels, while a 19th century stretcher and an ambulance evoke the very old links between the D'Ieteren workshops and emergency relief vehicles.
